Bout 6mo ago she broke up with a man she'd been with for 9yrs, more like he broke up (i.e. left her) for an extended period of time there was the woe is me thing that went on, we all (my friends and i) worked on helping her out doing things with her trying to keep her outta her funk. She'd then go to her therapist and theyd discuss him again and we would wind up back at square one with crying jags and drunken events. It got old....quick. Well she began finding old friends online and talking to other "fringe" friends because she knew she had begun to wear on us because we got to a point where there was nothing more we could say or do to assist, she just needed to move on and let go (which I get it believe me a 9 yr relationship is hard to let go of especially when you move across the country and away from your family for him) So, now she's talking to old friends and new friends and one of these old friends happens to be a guy who she had a crush on back in high school, she says they have hour long convos on the phone, and they have a "connection" shes totally enamored with this man to the point where she wont go out or talk/date anyone else. Theres one problem...he's married with 2 kids and lives on the other end of the country, AND has no intention of leaving said wife and kids. He has told her what they have is good and he likes it, but as long as theres no "bunny boiling" type incidents they are good as it is. Now, she keeps falling more and more into him and he just gets the benefits while he goes home to the wife and kids, she goes home alone and waits, for a call...for an email for anything. In the time she's talked to him, she says she "loves" him, shes impressed with what hes done with his life and how far he's come, shes willing to even fly to visit him (which i think is a TOTALLY bad idea) especially when hes married (the wife would be outta town when she goes to see him) Every time she talks about him she compares him to the X .... which isnt the best either because I think she's still hung up on the x. Its a dead end situation and she's told him how she feels and hes happy with the status quo but knows it hurts her and she's not willing to let go because she wants to wait and see if it would work out eventually. So its a daily battle of her being upset and she just gets more and more damaging to herself, sitting home alone getting drunk and talking on the computer and being upset and its just too much to take. So more and more i havent really been around her much other than situations where alchohol typically isnt involved to save us from any excessive drama.

This friend also felt the need to tell another of my friends that i was talking bout them saying they didnt like them or whatever, which i never did. This makes me angry because 1. i never said it, 2. it upset my other friend. I dont know what to do about this because i'm not the type to get in someones face about doing things like that.

I have other friends....and i'm the type that counts alot on my friends and when they dont live up to my expectations I feel really betrayed, and i tend to jump to conclusions on alot of things. Thats one of the things i really dont like about myself... For example, i had a friend come into town from downstate and my friends here were supposed to go out on the town with us on Sat night, so i go to the previously scheduled meeting place, to find...one has gone out of town with the new guy she's dating...did she call me or let me know she wasnt coming? no. I called her in the afternoon and she didnt answer her phone, only know she left town because her sister told me. It kinda upset me because I had thought we all had plans but she didnt even call to tell me she was doing the other, not sure Im holding it against her because its a new relationship she's in and because its new i think she's just enjoying it and going with the flow.

Lately i call, try setting things up or call to say hello or whatever and people arent returning calls, should I take this as a hint? I ask about it later and they say nothing or give excuses that they were doing something and werent able to return my call or whatever, but I dont know what to think. And it makes me really upset that i cant count on people that I would really consider my closest friends. In any situation i'm there for them when they need to sound off, but when i do it seems they disappear and it makes me angry.

I dont know, i dont like childish antics, i dont like high school girl mentatlity and that seems to be whats going on more and more lately and its really beginning to piss me off, for girls that should be grown ups by now....they all tend to act like children more than need be. I dont even know if its them or me because I thought i'd be "further in life" than where i am now by now, and not being there wears on me and stresses me out.

I'm tired of being alone, going home alone, sleeping alone and counting on friends and not getting anything in return but aggrivation.

Under the tropical zodiac, Scorpio is occupied by the Sun from October 23 to November 22, and under the sidereal zodiac, it is currently from November 16 to December 15. The opposite sign to Scorpio is Taurus.

Scorpio is the eighth sign of the Zodiac and associated with intensity, passion, and power. Individuals born under this sign are thought to have a complex, emotional, analytical, keenly perceptive, focused, intuitive, determined, hypnotic, perspicacious and self-contained character, but one which is also prone to extremity, jealousy, secretiveness, possessiveness, stubbornness, cruelty and cunning. In terms of anatomy, Scorpio is said to rule the pelvis, reproductive system and urinary system. In terms of geography Scorpio is linked with Egypt, Syria, Algeria, and Morocco.

Medieval astrologers believed that "By virtue of its tail armed with its powerful sting, the Scorpion creates natures ardent for war and active service, which rejoices in plenteous bloodshed and in carnage more than in plunder. When warfare is in abeyance, they find themselves foes to attack, there are those who enjoy mockfights and joust in arms and devote their leisure to the study of war and every pursuit which arises from the art of war".

Scorpio is traditionally thought to be ruled by the planet Mars, but in recent years many astrologers have labeled Pluto as the ruler or co-ruler of Scorpio, attributing the intensity associated with the sign to the planet's influence.

In mythology Scorpio is often associated with Orpheus, from the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Scorpio is also associated with the Greco-Roman gods Ares/Mars

Yeah, so here i am posting, its been forever and now i post...bout the most useless topic.

Ok, recently (last week) i moved in with a friend out of where i was, and i'm not sure now/yet if i regret it yet. So, she owns a cabin out in the woods, the basement (my part of the house) isnt hard plummed, meaning the toilet, shower, sink, run on a pump thats plugged into the wall. Anyway....the toilet sticks sometimes and i was told to 1. try jiggling the handle and if that doesnt shut it off 2. un-plug it and plug it back in to reset it. So I come home from work thursday evening and it begins to run so i go thru the typical steps, well after unplugging and plugging it back in, it stops. I think ok, fixed it. Were good. I proceed to go upstairs to figure out dinner etc and watch some tv. When returning back downstairs i found part of the basement coated in water....the pump had quit, reason being is the plug had reset and shut off and the water wasnt being pumped correctly which caused the toilet to overflow. Now, upon this i freaked out and called my brother to come over with his shop vac to help pick up as much as i could, we did what we could, then i called my new "landlord" to inform her of what had happened, she seemed pretty understanding bout the whole ordeal and i put out how sorry and concerned i was about this. She had her friend come over and bring another more powerful shop vac, we worked on the basement for a good 3hrs to remove the majority of the water and basically we were left with damp carpet, which we ran fans on all night, so mainly friday morning the wetness was contained in the bathroom area. (dont worry, no icky stuff involved in this mess) so, i had to leave after work on friday to come home to my parents for the holiday, she stayed home, i emailed her a hello yesterday to kinda say merry xmas and so on. I sign back into my account today to find her message saying "i dont think you realize how much damage was done, we'll talk upon your return" now, thing is i dont know if she's just stating this or if she's actually pissed. Shes kinda a private quiet person, so i havent gotten the ability to really read her yet. Now my issue is, i feel horrible, i have since it happened, i did what i could to reconcile the situation and i dont know what to do. Myself i'm the kinda person to stew on something enough that it just makes me physically sick. I dont know what to do now, and i still feel horrible...sigh...i guess thats all i can say, i wanted to get it out and my saying this, i'm not sure if i tell her (which i have how sorry that i am for this happening) what difference it would make....i kinda just wanted to get it off my chest.

By Hillel Italie, AP National Writer

NEW YORK — Memoirist James Frey and Random House, Inc. have agreed in principle to settle lawsuits filed by readers who said they were defrauded by fabrications in Frey's million-selling book, A Million Little Pieces, the publisher said.

"I can confirm that we have an agreement in principle," David Drake, a spokesman for the Random House imprint Doubleday, said Thursday. "However, it requires court approval and may take several weeks and even months."

Readers who bought A Million Little Pieces on or before Jan. 26, the day Frey and his publisher acknowledged that he had made up parts of the book, would be eligible for a refund of the full suggested retail price, according to a person with detailed knowledge of the settlement, who provided background information on condition of anonymity because approval is still pending.

Manhattan federal court judge Richard J. Holwell consolidated the lawsuits in June. Lawyers for 10 of the 12 proposed representatives for the class-action suits have accepted terms of the settlement, which call on Frey and Random House to pay out no more than a total of $2.35 million. That sum covers the refund to consumers, plaintiffs' lawyers' fees and an unspecified donation to charity.

Under terms of the settlement, neither Frey nor the publisher have admitted any wrongdoing.

Reports of an imminent settlement first appeared on http://www.radaronline.com, a pop culture website.

To receive refunds — $23.95 for the hardcover, $14.95 for paperback — consumers will have to submit a receipt or some other proof of purchase: for the hardcover, page 163; for the paperback, the book's front cover. They also will have to sign a sworn statement that they bought the book because they believed it was a memoir.

Frey's book was a sensation after Oprah Winfrey chose it for her book club last fall, but in early January the website The Smoking Gun revealed that Frey's memoir of addiction and recovery contained numerous fabrications. Winfrey initially defended Frey, but soon changed her mind and berated him in person on her TV show.

Frey has also acknowledged extensive falsifications in a second memoir, My Friend Leonard.

Principal files complaint after grads grab rear
CLIO
THE FLINT JOURNAL FIRST EDITION
Tuesday, June 06, 2006
By Ron Fonger
rfonger@flintjournal.com • 810.766.6317

CLIO - High School Principal Keith Smith says he doesn't mind being the butt of a good-natured joke, but he wants two graduating seniors to know his backside is off limits.

Smith filed a sexual assault complaint with police after Sunday's commencement ceremony at the Clio Amphitheater, claiming the male students reached around him and grabbed his backside when he tried to congratulate them for their graduation.

"These two chose to touch me on the butt and rub it," Smith said Monday. "They are 18. They are adults. It's not OK."

Still, some thought Smith was going too far over what might have been graduation high jinks.

"I really don't see it as that big a deal, but apparently he (Smith) did," said graduating senior Cassie Ratza. "That is pretty extreme to file charges."

Police took Smith's complaint, but a Clio detective sergeant said the investigation isn't complete. No charges have been filed.

"I don't even have a report yet. We responded on a complaint," said Detective Sgt. Ronald Steinhorst. The Flint Journal could not reach Police Chief James McLellan for comment.

Word of the incident is slowly making its way around the halls of Clio High School.

Freshman Chelsea Swinford heard about it in class Monday.

"We asked the teacher if it was true that they were crossing the stage and when they got their diploma, they grabbed his butt," Swinford said. "I thought it was pretty crazy."

She admits their action shocked her, but her principal's response really took her aback.

"I think it was a little overboard, but my teacher said he did it so (students) would know they can't do worse things next year," she said.

Junior Tyler Lonsway didn't hear about it in school Monday, but he was pretty sure something went down at commencement.

"I was there and I remember hearing them call off some cars' license plates, and announce the sheriff's deputies wanted to talk with the drivers, but I didn't see anything," Lonsway said.

Most students at the graduation ceremony were unaware of the incident.

"Nope, I didn't see it, and I haven't heard anything about it," said graduating senior Grant Gunther. "(But) they should've known he was going to do something. He doesn't really let things fly."

Smith said he's got a sense of humor and understands students might do anything to stand out in front of their peers one last time.

"Every year, you are going to have something like that - (like) a kid puts shaving cream in his hand," Smith said. "If they had just patted me on the back, it wouldn't have been an issue."

Smith said the incident didn't cause a huge scene, but it did upset him. He complained to an off-duty Genesee County sheriff's deputy, who referred him to city police to make his complaint.

Jeffrey Clothier, an attorney for one of the students, said he hopes someone videotaped the commencement so police can consider whether Smith was really the victim of a sexual assault.

By definition, he said, such an assault requires that the students touched Smith for their own sexual arousal or gratification.

"To think my client would touch his principal in that way ... is absurd," Clothier said.

Smith said the two seniors took attention away from their classmates by what they did.

"The thing to remember is 206 students crossed the stage beautifully. Two made poor choices," he said. "I know if I had done that, I would have lost my job."

***

QUICK TAKE
Have an opinion?

Do you think the Clio High School principal went too far in filing a police complaint over the butt-grabbing incident? Or did the students deserve a lesson? Let us know at (810) 766-6317 or rfonger@flintjournal.com. We may use your views in a future article.

I'm so horrible with updating this thing...its been awhile since i really wrote an actual entry.

SO here goes...

Ok, i work at an insurance company, and i have for bout 2 years now and irony of ironies, i love the company i work for. While i enjoy the job i cant help but feel kinda stuck in one place being that i've been doing the same exact thing for the entire two years. I do my job and i do it well (if i do say so myself). While some managers have brought me into different development teams, some of those managers have left the company and the teams have yet to turn into any benefits on my part (i.e traveling, promotion, etc) I've applied 4 different times to transfer within the company, turned down 2 times and told 2 other that they were going to hire outside of the company. OK..kinda pissed me off, but i move on. So earlier this week i got a call from the HR department setting up an interview for 1 of the 2 where they were hiring outside the company, well, this interview wasnt just any, the first time it was just the HR lady and one of the managers of our claims department (the position for which i applied) this time it was HR lady, manager, and the VP of that department, which is kinda a big thing, there were other friends of mine that applied the first time that didnt get this 2nd call...so i'm kinda excited thinking this is a good sign for me, though kinda nervous because i feel like 4 times before i've had interviews and 4 times before somehow i wasnt good enough. I hate interviews. I think it went well, (that was on Tuesday by the way) but i've yet to hear anything, and stupid me didnt ask at the time. All i know is they were looking to hire 1 maybe 2 people for the department. SO here i sit and wait...which is completely aggrivating, though understandable in a way too. Its out of my control and i hate it. Im half tempted to ask the HR lady if i should hear anything soon, but then I'm afraid of getting a response that they decided NO.

lets see....
Issue 2 i guess, but not really an issue.
August 1st i started the South Beach diet at 242lbs (god i hate admitting that), since then i'm down somewhere between 15-19 lbs, i guess it kinda depends on when i weigh myself. Well, i'm happy with what i've done so far, but i really want to make it at least below the 200 mark, i'm really hard on myself for looking like this, i guess its my fault i got here, though if you look at me i dont think i look like i weighed that much. Part of my problem is i'm scared that if i dont look the right way i might end up alone, which i think is partly something ingraned by my mother, she is all gung ho on the weight thing and to give her credit my dads side of the family isnt exactly the healthiest and since it runs in the family i guess i see healthwise where shes coming from, but not otherwise. She claims to be trying to help, but her asking (even JUST asking!?) upsets me. I keep seeing friends and family married off or pregnant or moving on with their lives, but i feel like i'm stuck in a rut and not going anywhere...i know that everything above is not the case, i know i'll find someone, i know that my weight doesnt have EVERYTHING to do with it, but i cant help but think these things.

issue 3-
Not a big fan of this town, while being a beautiful place to live, there is nothing to do here, other than the tourist crap. People around here are either said tourists or have grown up here, and everyone knows everyone and in doing so gets benefits, like living next to one of the managers here guarantees you'll go someplace in the company. While not only being a tourist town, its a family town, most of the younger crowd around here is married or coupled up, or....gay..not that i'm against that in any way shape or form ("to each his own" i say "as long as you're happy") I miss all of my friends downstate, and the way gas is a 3-4 hr drive isnt an option, and most of them being settled arent coming this way either. Though i'm happy in that i've made a few good girlfriends as of late so its been nice getting back into the swing of having people around. My usual night consists of comin home and watching tv, with an occasional foray into going out to do some karaoke or for a drink with some friends.

issue 4-
Not really an issue either, though none of these are life altering issues
Jan 31 06 my lease is up with my apartment, i'm worried that my rent may jump if i re-up with them since they are "luxury" apartments and i kinda got a deal when i moved in. Though being that the whole family is downstate, and i'm single, it will be january in northern michigan, moving is gonna suck.

So...now that ive ranted, i guess i feel a bit better..

Whoops! Did old nasty really say that?
He certainly did. Could it be that all those chemicals he inhaled back when he ran a pest control firm in Texas finally reached his brain?
That’s entirely possible. However, he wasn’t talking about our present fiasco in Iraq, but about President Clinton’s decision to send troops to Bosnia a decade ago. Republicans said a lot of things at the time that now seem grimly hilarious, some of which are on display on the Daily Kos (dailykos.com), one of the very few blogs worth putting down your Superman comic book for.
Karen Hughes, then as now the Shrub’s mouthpiece, said, “If we are going to commit American troops, we must be certain they have a clear mission, an achievable goal and an exit strategy.”
Later, perhaps when she had gone to the powder room, Governor George W. Bush himself echoed that, saying, “Victory means exit strategy, and it’s important for the president to explain to us what his exit strategy is.”
Naturally, the war in Bosnia was nothing like our present glorious crusade for freedom and against terrorism in Mesopotamia, or the greater Pan-American Co-Prosperity Sphere, or whatever we are calling it now.
For one thing, we didn’t lose a single soldier in combat in Bosnia.
For another, we did have an exit strategy. And we won.
We aren’t winning in Iraq, of course. We cannot win, we aren’t going to win and even if we could “win,” we aren’t willing to commit the number of troops necessary for enough years to have any chance of success.
Here’s a hint from history. Foreign wars that we won generally had front lines. You could follow the progress of our troops on the map. This was true in both world wars and in the Korean Conflict. There are no front lines in Iraq.
We merely drive around from village to village, and they blow up our men with roadside bombs. Then we shoot up a town or city. We kill lots and lots of them, and make lots and lots of new enemies.
According to The Washington Post, we killed between 4,530 and 6,050 Iraqi military during the initial phase of our invasion. During our occupation about 25,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed, by British estimates. The Johns Hopkins School of Public Health estimates that figure is really more than 100,000.
Does that make you feel a lot more secure? Nearly 2,000 U.S. troops have now been killed in Iraq. Do you feel it was all worth it?
Cindy Sheehan, the grieving mother Bush refuses to meet with, is the tip of the iceberg. There will be another mother who refuses to accept the lying banalities about why her son or daughter died — and then another, and another. The polls show support for the war falling, and most Americans now agree it was a mistake in the first place.
We have lost the war in Iraq. In the long run, that probably doesn’t matter very much. Back in the 1960s, volumes of ink were used to predict all sorts of horrible consequences if we lost the Vietnam War. Guess what. We lost, and it barely caused a ripple in the wider world, and the domino theory that predicted godless communism would then spread to Thailand and Laguna Beach was all nonsense, as much so as everything being said now.
Frankly, I don’t care very much about Iraq, though I feel for the people who have been horribly used by their own leaders and now by ours. What I’m really worried about is the war for the hearts and minds of the rest of the world. That, and the war for what kind of America this should be.
Everyone who drives expressways sees tractor-trailer trucks with what amounts to a terribly undemocratic slogan on their back door. Support our troops wherever they go. No aid and comfort to the enemy — No Way! That’s a slogan Adolf Hitler would heartily have approved.
Blind support for the military, whatever they do. The Founding Fathers would have found that about the most terribly un-American thing they could have imagined. But that’s how the gang in control of our government thinks.
They’re polarizing our country, and turning it slowly against themselves. What is even more damaging — though we barely sense it — is what they’re doing to our standing elsewhere. By and large, the world is coming to hate us.
You wouldn’t know this, because the vast majority of even our better media pay no attention. Take Canada, which is by far our most important trading partner, and our closest neighbor. This almost never appears in our press, but we’re in what amounts to a very nasty battle with Canada over softwood lumber, which we import in vast amounts. We’re improperly charging them tariffs on it.
What about NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement? Well, they looked into it, and a succession of impartial NAFTA arbiters has ruled that Canada is right and the United States is wrong. Matter of fact, they say we need to refund $5 billion our government has improperly charged Canada.
And we’re behaving like classic ugly Americans. Rob Portman, a hack GOP politician who’s now our trade representative, says we’ll ignore those rulings and refuse to pay. “What is there to talk about?” a Canadian senator told The New York Times. “The Americans won’t abide by the rule of law.”
Someday, not too far away, we’ll need the oil in Alberta to keep our Hummers running. Behavior like that will certainly help make sure Ottawa does all it can to help us out then, won’t it?
That’s how we treat our most important neighbor, the nation that’s most like us. I’ll bet the relatives of those dead Iraqi civilians really love us.
Eventually, if we persist in making enemies of the rest of the world, we’re going to be overwhelmed by the sheer weight of hostile numbers. That is, if the many millions who are being pushed into poverty at home don’t revolt first.
This isn’t any kind of a testimonial on behalf of the Democratic Party’s foreign policy; as far as I can tell, they don’t have one. The Democrats don’t seem to have any ideas at all, except hoping to inherit the wreckage after the Bush administration crashes.
That’s not good enough. We need a vast national effort to examine America’s future economic well-being, for one thing. And instead of attacking countries we don’t like, we need to try to create an international middle class, as was proposed brilliantly in The Nation magazine some weeks ago.
John F. Kennedy, almost half a century ago, understood that was the key to our future. “To those people in the huts and villages of half the globe struggling to break the bonds of mass misery, we pledge our best efforts to help them help themselves, for whatever period is required — not because the Communists are doing it ... but because it is right,” he said in his Inaugural Address.
He also pledged to help poorer nations in this hemisphere in what became the Alliance for Progress. It wasn’t done well enough or for long enough, but he was right. “If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich,” Kennedy added.
Nobody remembers or believes those words anymore, but they’re more true than ever, at home and abroad. We ignore them, very much at our peril.

Vera (Neve Campbell) is a femme fatale for the 21st century; a beautiful, capricious young woman living in New York whom begins exploring the limits of her sexual and intellectual power. She picks up men on the street and has sex with them in her apartment. She also videotapes a sexual romp with a female lover, and has sexually frank discussions with her potential employer. As the daughter of wealthy, indulgent parents, Vera seems to be improvising her way through the beginning of her life as an adult. Her boyfriend, Ford (Frederick Weller), is a fast-talking hustler prepared to do anything to make a buck. Aware of Vera's promiscuity, Ford sees a chance to make big money when he meets an aging Italian media mogul, named Count Tommaso (Dominic Chianese), who is enamored of Vera because of her sexuality, her intelligence, and what he perceives as her naiveté. Ford cooks up an idea to pimp Vera out to the Count for $100,000, easy money, if he can only talk Vera into it. Incredibly, she agrees. Everything appears to be going even better than planned. But both men have gravely underestimated Vera, who has an agenda of her own. Ford and the Count unwittingly play right into her hands, and when her plan of deception and manipulation comes to fruition, the results are staggering.
